Abstract

Duplex ultrasound of the vertebral artery (VA) has some limitations because of its anatomical position and technical problems. But, the ultrasound is quick and noninvasive method, and available for diagnosis of stenosis or occlusion of VA, subclavian steal syndrome and VA dissection. This article describes anatomy and methods for the ultrasound examination of the VA.
