Abstract |
Free-floating thrombus (FFT) of the carotid artery, which is almost symptomatic, is rarely detected by carotid duplex ultrasonography in patients with cerebrovascular events. Although, the exact etiology of FFT remains unknown, possible mechanism is complicated atherosclerotic plaques of carotid wall and hypercoagulable state. We report a case of FFT in patient with asymptomatic chronic occluded common carotid artery. Carotid duplex ultrasonography is a non- invasive assessment of vascular anatomy and useful in defining the characteristics of FFT. |
